Our Work

IRAC runs two centers providing direct support to immigrants and victims of racism:

The Legal Aid Center for Olim (LACO)

The Legal Aid Center for Olim (LACO), founded in 1992, provides indispensable assistance to olim [immigrants] who face legal and bureaucratic hurdles in their new homeland.

The Racism Crisis Center (RCC)

The Racism Crisis Center (RCC) was founded in August 2017 as a joint initiative with the Coalition Against Racism in Israel to change Israel’s perception of racism while providing direct support to victims of racism.

IRAC is fortunate to have the partnership of Deborah and David Astrove and the Chaiken Family Foundation in generously sponsoring the Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof Attorneys.

 Thanks to IRAC:

  • Gender segregation on public buses is illegal.

  • Jewish supremacist, Kahanist candidates were disqualified from running for Knesset.

  • An indictment was filed against Bentzi Gopstein, head of the hate group Lehava.

  • Reform and Conservative rabbis receive state funding towards their salaries.

  • Reform and Conservative converts are recognized under the Law of Return and are eligible for Aliyah.

  • Humanitarian considerations carry more weight in cases of immigrant women who are victims of domestic violence and are seeking permanent residency in Israel.

  • The Jerusalem March for Pride and Tolerance happens annually.

  • Women in Bet Shemesh can walk freely without modesty signs, which aim to limit women’s dress and movement.
